Después llega Fun in the Summer, ligera y juguetona, pero con letras que esconden cierto caos: “the flames are melting the skin off my face”. Esa mezcla de verano soleado y tormenta emocional le da un aire casi contradictorio que funciona muy bien.
Con Dear Betty Baby se siente el viaje psicodélico. Original de Mayo Thompson, Portka lo transforma en un paisaje extraño y marino que casi roza lo surrealista. Algo similar ocurre con Poor Moon de Alan Wilson: aquí la lírica es una reflexión ecológica y triste, y su interpretación te hace pensar en la fragilidad de todo lo que damos por sentado.
Uno de mis favoritos es Broken Heart de Skip Spence. Tiene ese aire gospel-psicodélico, íntimo y casi confesional. La forma en que Portka maneja la voz es conmovedora. Después, The Observer se convierte en un punto alto: una canción contemplativa, con imágenes familiares y filosóficas que me dejaron pensando en el paso del tiempo y la fugacidad de lo cotidiano.
El cierre con Molly es perfecto. Escrita por Jasper Leach, combina guitarra acústica con arreglos de órgano que terminan de envolver todo el álbum en un halo nostálgico. La línea “my life is but a rumor i once read” me pareció brutal y hermosa a la vez.

Then comes Fun in the Summer, playful yet chaotic, with lyrics such as “the flames are melting the skin off my face”. It captures that clash between sunny vibes and inner turmoil.
With Dear Betty Baby the psychedelic trip kicks in, reshaping Mayo Thompson’s original into something strange and oceanic. Poor Moon by Alan Wilson is a sad ecological reflection, interpreted with Portka’s haunting touch. One of my favorites is Skip Spence’s Broken Heart. It’s intimate, almost gospel-like, and Portka’s delivery makes it genuinely moving.
Later, The Observer stands out as a contemplative piece, weaving philosophy and nostalgia in a way that lingers. Closing with Molly, written by Jasper Leach, the album leaves on an acoustic yet expansive note. The organ textures and the line “my life is but a rumor i once read” hit especially hard.
