Desde Ontario, esta banda ganadora del Juno se ha dedicado a sacudir tímpanos y patear puertas con cada lanzamiento. Ahora regresan con Rock N’ Roll Band, el tercer sencillo de su próximo álbum The Lash, y sí, trae todo el poder que esperábamos. Después del caos de Gallop of the Hounds y la introspección de Spider Dream, este nuevo track llega como un golpe directo, sin filtros y con mucha actitud.

La letra es tan directa como brutal: “So you wanna be in a rock and roll band / With your face on the Instagram?” Con un tono sarcástico pero certero, Luke Bentham habla de las falsas expectativas del glamour musical. La canción expone el contraste entre el sueño de tocar en una banda y la realidad del sacrificio, el desgaste, y la desigualdad en la industria.
Me encantó esa dualidad. Es ácida, sí, pero también honesta. Frases como “Someone else is getting rich, not you” resumen perfectamente esa sensación de darlo todo por algo que parece no devolver nada. Pero lo mejor es que, a pesar de lo crudo, la canción no deprime: libera. Es como gritar al volante después de una mala semana. Te renueva.

Aquí no hay medias tintas. Las guitarras son sucias y vibrantes, con ese tono que te raspa y te encanta. La batería es una locomotora y el bajo amarra todo con potencia. La voz de Bentham brilla por su entrega: melódica, energética, con ese filo punk que te hace levantar las cejas. La producción es sólida pero cruda, justo como debe sonar una buena rola de garage rock evolucionado. Y lo más importante: tiene una dinámica que no suelta. Es de esas que puedes repetir diez veces sin hartarte.

Bentham’s vocals walk the line between melody and sneer, delivering every line with infectious conviction. The production is tight but raw — polished enough to punch, rough enough to bite.
