Nephets - Aperture (2026)

From Toronto, Ontario, independent producer Ryan Urbano-Gill introduces Nephets, his project for exploring different possibilities within experimental electronic music. His approach combines IDM, ambient, downtempo and other electronic influences. His debut EP, Aperture, arrived on August 6. The release features five tracks and runs for 23 minutes, and it is a strong debut with a carefully crafted sound and an intriguing identity.
Essential tracks from Aperture
One of the tracks I enjoyed most is Lattice, which opens the EP. The piece builds a dark atmosphere through deep nuances and immersive textures. Its hypnotic development works especially well with the vibrant synths, creating an almost cinematic sensation.
Meanwhile, Parallax offers a more contemplative and ethereal moment. Its deep, immersive sound creates an open sonic space that allows its electronic layers to breathe. Run shifts the energy with a drum & bass-inspired foundation. Its pulsating beats and vibrant rhythmic textures add momentum without disrupting the EP’s overall coherence.
The music of Nephets
Aperture stands out because it refuses to remain within a single sound. Nephets moves through IDM, drum & bass and ambient, creating contrasts that keep the listening experience engaging. Pulsating beats coexist with vibrant synthesizers and more abstract passages. Furthermore, I hear a convincing balance between experimentation and cinematic expression. The result is a carefully produced release with a polished sound and consistent execution.
Listen and follow their journey
I recommend listening to Aperture from beginning to end, especially if you enjoy electronic music focused on atmosphere and sonic exploration. For me, Nephets delivers an engaging, dark and hypnotic debut. Follow the project on social media and keep an eye on future releases.
