HKSPK - Heimkehr (Black Metal)

HKSPK is a young black/death metal trio from Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, founded in 2023 by Jim Tonik on vocals and lead guitar, Leon on rhythm guitar, and Arne on drums. Their sound combines the raw aggression of modern metal with the atmosphere of classic black metal and the weight of death metal. They now present Heimkehr, the closing track of their album, an intense and shadowy piece that brings together many of the emotions and experiences that have shaped their journey.
This track is a six-minute album closer centered on loss, memory, comradeship, emptiness, and the consequences of battles that remain long after everything is over. Musically, it begins in an introspective and restrained space with a folkloric quality, before shifting into sharp guitars, an unrelenting drum and bass foundation, and visceral, anguished vocals. The progressive dynamics keep the tension alive until the track reaches its crushing finale. Yet this is not a triumphant homecoming. Instead, returning home means confronting the wounds and realizing that the past has returned with you. As a result, Heimkehr leaves the album in a dark, heavy, and deliberately unresolved place.
