Sharkeologist - Pony (Alternative Rock)
Desde Seattle llega Sharkeologist, proyecto liderado por Jeff Grant que en poco tiempo ha sabido construir una identidad bastante sólida dentro de la escena alternativa. En esta ocasión presentan Pony, una reinterpretación bastante arriesgada del clásico de Ginuwine que funciona como antesala de su próximo EP TAXIDERMY is FOREVER. Lejos de replicar la vibra R&B noventera del tema original, la banda decidió llevarlo a un terreno mucho más pesado, oscuro y atmosférico.

Con una letra cargada de sensualidad explícita, Pony mantiene esa esencia provocadora del tema original, pero transforma completamente su contexto emocional gracias a una instrumentación mucho más densa. Lo que antes era una canción de R&B ahora se convierte en una experiencia más oscura, misteriosa e intensa. La reinterpretación logra que la sensualidad se sienta más cruda y menos festiva, mientras las influencias de Alice in Chains y Deftones aparecen de forma natural en las armonías y la atmósfera. Esta versión cambió por completo la vibra de la canción, con una construcción progresiva bastante envolvente. Los matices vocales suaves contrastan con tonos brillantes muy bien ejecutados, mientras las guitarras vibrantes generan momentos realmente intensos. Y siendo completamente honesto, suena mejor que la versión original, al menos para mi gusto; lograron tomar su esencia y convertirla en algo mucho más interesante.

What was once a seductive R&B anthem now feels darker, moodier, and far more intense. Influences from Alice in Chains and Deftones naturally shine through the harmonies and atmosphere. This version completely reshapes the song into something darker, denser, and more immersive, with a progressive structure that keeps building tension. The soft vocal textures mixed with brighter tones work incredibly well, while the vibrant guitars create some truly powerful moments. Honestly, I think it sounds even better than the original version—they successfully transformed its essence into something far heavier and more compelling.
